Digital Identity

A digital identity is a verified electronic representation of a person or business that can be reused to prove who they are online without repeating manual document checks.

What is a digital identity?

A digital identity bundles the checks that prove who someone is, document verification, a biometric match, and trusted data sources, into a reusable electronic credential. Once a person or business has been verified, that result can be relied on again without asking them to re-photograph a licence or re-key details every time. For an Australian finance team, this is the difference between onboarding a new supplier contact once and confirming their identity in seconds, versus chasing paperwork and hoping the person on the other end of an email is genuine.

Why it matters for Australian finance teams

As more onboarding and payment setup happens over email and web forms, fraudsters exploit the gap where nobody actually confirms the human behind a request. Australia is investing in trusted digital identity frameworks precisely because reusable, verified identity reduces the manual friction that leads teams to skip checks. For accounts payable, a strong digital identity underpinning a payee means a change request is tied to a real, verified person, not just an email address that could be compromised.

How ezyshield helps

ezyshield verifies the person, the business via ABN and ASIC records, and bank account ownership before money moves, and captures that verification as a durable record you can rely on. When key details change, any change triggers re-verification, so a previously trusted identity cannot be silently swapped. Note that ezyshield is a payment verification platform, not a reusable government digital ID scheme; it verifies identity at the point of payment rather than issuing a portable credential. Every check is stored in an append-only audit trail, logged and never edited or deleted. See how it works and security at ezyshield.
